I love it when God is busy bringing His message to us in related and seemingly unrelated ways. This past weekend, without me knowing what they had planned to share in our services, both Pastor Mark and Pastor David ended up preaching about our attitudes. I thought this was pretty cool because all week I had the feeling that God was wanting me to share from Philippians 2:5-11, reminding us that our attitude should be the same as Jesus…and that God had given Jesus the name that is above every other name.
I have been spending a lot of time lately thinking about the name of Jesus and the attributes of God. All the things that God is in our lives, and the power that simply resides in the name of Jesus, and what can happen when we call on His name. When we speak His name and when we sing His name, there is life and hope, there is healing and encouragement to our spirit, and we can genuinely experience his love.
Here’s the set from this past weekend:
Your Grace Is Enough – A
Your Name – A
Be Thou My Vision – E (with new chorus by Andy Allen, recording not yet available)
Save Me – C
Jesus, Name Above All Names – A (my arrangement with a nod to New Life Church)
How Great Is Our God – C
As you go through this coming week, I pray that the name of Jesus will be close to your heart and mind, and that you will encounter God’s blessings and love in a new and profound way.
